Top beaches in the South West!

The UK’s experiencing one of the best summers on record, offering the perfect opportunity to explore some of the best beaches along the South West coastline!

To save you the trouble of deciding where to go, we’ve gathered a list of the best camper friendly beaches - so pack your bags, hit the road and get ready to explore what Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset have to offer this summer!

Devon

Bigbury-on-Sea:

After our recent trip to Bigbury in Columbus, it was hard not to include this beach on the list! Park your camper on top of the cliff and you will experience the stunning views, just as we did. Looking across to Burgh Island is one of the unique traits that Bigbury has to offer. If the tide is in, you can walk across on foot - but if the tide is out, we recommend a trip on the local sea tractor. On busy summer days, there are plenty of watersports on offer, as well as rock pooling and sunbathing.

Cornwall

With so many beautiful beaches in Cornwall, we couldn’t help but include a choice of two!

Porthcurno:

The turquoise seas, soft white sand and high cliffs make Porthcurno feel like being abroad! Park your camper at the top of the cliffs and prepare to explore Cornwall’s hidden gem. Much like our campers, Porthcurno is dog-friendly (but only in the winter months Sept-April). Whether you’re visiting in summer or winter, there’s always something to do in this hidden cove – sunbathing, exploring the extraordinary Minack Theatre or simply enjoying the breathtaking views.

Perranporth:

Take a trip to one of the most popular beaches in the South West - but don’t worry, there is plenty of parking nearby and a choice of camping sites, so prepare for a fun-filled beach day!

Bask in the sun or enjoy a spot of lunch at the Watering Hole pub (situated in the middle of the beach!) - or if you fancy something more active… the South West Coastal Path runs right through and offers stunning views along the way. There are also plenty of watersports available and a local surfing school - get ready to experience the world-renowned surf!

Somerset

Weston-super-mare:

Weston-super-Mare does not disappoint if you are looking for a family-friendly holiday stop! With so many things to do, there is something to keep everyone busy - with an abundance of activities for the little ones, ranging from amusements to a 4D cinema. Whilst the kids are kept busy, hire a deck chair and enjoy the sea views or, if you’ve taken your four-legged friend with you, follow the coastline looking out for the dog-friendly beaches along the way. With plenty of parking along the seafront, park up your camper and experience what Weston-super-Mare has to offer.

Dorset

Durdle Door:

Durdle Door is perfect for families with campervans with the beach right on Durdle Door Holiday Park’s doorstep, making it easy to set up your pitch and follow the cliffs down to the beach!

The renowned arch - which gives the beach its name - forms part of the Jurassic Coast. You can see it up close on the beach, but if you look even closer you may even find some fossils! Durdle Door is dog-friendly all year round – which is great for our dog-friendly campers! The South West coastal path also runs along this part of the coastline, which is great for those who enjoy walking.
