Top 5 beaches to visit in a campervan this summer!

Weather experts have announced that this summer is going to be very sunny across the United Kingdom, over the coming weeks! That means tropical temps, flip flops, sun hats and beach days with the family are looking good this year!

We thought it would be appropriate to highlight some of our top beaches in Devon to enjoy the sunshine, in one of our campervans!

Watcombe Beach

Watcombe Beach is beautifully located in Torquay, South Devon. It is ideal for a family day out, it is truly idyllic; surrounded by cliffs and hillside.

Park your campervan at the top of the steep path, put your dog on the lead (if they're with you) and walk through the woodland which opens out to the scenic cove. There’s a cafe/restaurant which is open from May to September, perfect for your summer campervan road trip!

Durdle Door

Durdle Door is a very popular beach in Dorset with its spectacular, unique arch and gorgeous clear blue water - it is a must visit location during your family campervan road trip.

Durdle Door is part of the Lulworth Estate and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. The Marine Conservation Society rates the water to be excellent; ideal for swimming.

The beach is accessible via a footpath and steps over the hill from Lulworth Cove or down from the Car Park which is located on the cliff top at Durdle Door Holiday Park.

Bantham beach

Bantham Beach is one of South Devon’s premier beaches, within easy driving distance of Salcombe and Kingsbridge. This beautiful bay is great for families and is one of Devon’s favourite beaches for surfing! Not only does this beach have mesmerising views, at low tide the beach opens up to reveal lots of shallow sandy pools and rock pools creating ideal play areas for toddlers.

So, prepare to unload your campervan, arm yourselves with deck chairs, buckets and spades, suncream and surfboards and get ready for a fun-filled day with the family!

Barricane Beach

Barricane beach is magical, why? Because it has Caribbean origins; Cowries and other exotic sea shells have travelled all the way from a Caribbean island, thousands of miles across the Atlantic! They arrive at Barricane, in North Devon in near-perfect condition in this tiny inlet next to Combesgate, Woolacombe.

This beach is great all year round, allowing dogs on a lead from May-September which works with our dog friendly campervans!

This beach is great for family picnics, rock pools, swimming, surfing (at low tide) and of course shell hunting!

Park up your campervan on the Esplanade and walk down a few steps to get to the beach.

Croyde

Croyde beach is a stunning golden sand beach, sitting between two headlands, which offers protection from the wind (perfect for a picnic or sunbathe!). The village is gorgeous with its thatched houses and pubs, lovely quaint cafes and the waves are good for surfing! With many surf schools, you should grab a surf lesson - one for you and one for the kids!

There are many different campsites for you to stay here overnight in your camper too.
