New Year's Eve in the South West

New Year's Eve is the most coveted night of the year. It marks the end of the festive season and brings hope for new beginnings. There's a lot going on in the South West over the new year and we've picked a few of our favourite events to share with you.

Exeter Quay

Unfortunately, the carnival down at Exeter Quay has been cancelled but don't be put off, there's still lots of fun to be had. Various events will take place over the course of the evening. At the Waterfront is holding a mini cider and beer festival and there will also be a marquee with a storyteller to entertain children. The celebrations wouldn't be complete without some fireworks, Bar Venezia will hold a midnight firework display, making it a lovely way for the whole family to bring in the new year.

Teignmouth

Teignmouth is also a great place for New Year's Eve. Pubs are filled with community spirit as friends come together in fancy dress. Many dash down to the beach during the moves from one pub to the next. It's previously ranked in the top ten best places to celebrate New Year's Eve in the UK and that sea air is also welcomed by those feeling less than fresh on New Year's Day.

Old Firehouse Vintage Disco Party, Exeter

If it's a party you're looking for then look no further than Exeter's Old Firehouse. Six-piece band, Electric Spank, will be providing entertainment with eclectic sounds of fun, smooth soul, plus some swing jazz and afrobeat. Groove amid the fairy lights and soulful vocals until the early hours and don't forget to try one of firehouse's infamous pizzas. If you're looking for a quirky but magical New Year's Eve, then this is definitely the place for you.

Darts Farm RSPB Walk

Fancy spending an afternoon with the family before the partying begins? The staff in the Darts Farm RSPB shop lead walks for all every Saturday afternoon. This is a fun activity for the family to get outdoors and take in the beautiful surroundings. You can see a range of farmyard birds, kingfishers and reed buntings, as well as birds of prey. Binoculars can be hired from the shop to make the most of what you spot. Taking in the outdoors is a great way to start the new year weekend as a family.

However you choose to spend your New Year's Eve we hope you have a great time. We can't wait to see what's in store for the South West in 2017.
