A weekend at Devon Dub Fest
This month, Volkswagen fanatic Trevor Branton took Ozzie, one of our Classic Vans to Devon Dub Fest – a place where VW lovers gathered in the beautiful location of Bicton College to have an amazing weekend of fun in the sun. Here's what Trevor thought of the event.
Being part of the VW scene isn't just about the vehicle you drive, although you would certainly think so when you rock up at any VW festival across the country, and trust me there are PLENTY! It's more about the people you meet and making new friends.
Being part of the crew at Devon Dub Fest this year was such a great opportunity. As well as celebrating its 6th year of running, I was privileged enough to help out with marshalling for the weekend. I thought I had the best job in the world for a while as I got to park up the campers in their places in the middle of a bare field and introduce them to a neighbouring Volkswagen enthusiast.
Later on in the weekend, you'd take a walk down through the pitches you'd organised and see them all, talking about the challenges faced with keeping the old (or new) beast on the road and what they had done to personalise it to their needs or tastes. Seeing that bare field turned to a mini township of people all making friends due to their common love of VW's just makes you feel fantastic.
But what is truly great is the team at Devon Dub Festival who put this on all voluntarily to support a good cause. They work tirelessly to put on a great event and they deserve an awesome pat on the back.
Looks like Trevor, Ozzie and everyone at Devon Dub Fest had a wonderful time – make sure you make plans to be there next year!
